Gustav Klimt’s ‘Judith und Holofernes’ (1901) sketch appears in this exhibition poster, which we designed in the authentic style of a central London commercial art gallery poster from 1986. A preparatory study for his famous painting 'Judith and the Head of Holofernes' (1901), the drawing captures Klimt’s Viennese Secessionist style with expressive graphite lines and ornamental detail. In the painting, Klimt reimagined Judith not as a pious heroine but as a figure of sensuality and dominance, an interpretation that provoked controversy at the time and defined his fin-de-siècle style.
