Flowers of the Hills…on the Surrey Uplands is a 1920 colour lithograph by Edward McKnight Kauffer, showing a bare chalk hillside in white and blue-grey rising behind a dark green bank of red and yellow wildflowers, the whole composition set inside a warm ochre field of hand-lettered type.

Kauffer (1890–1954) was an American artist who settled in London in 1914 and received his first commission for the capital's transport network from Frank Pick, then its Commercial Manager, the following year. By 1920 he was among the most visible designers working in British poster art, and that year produced a group of botanical sheets — Flowers o' the Corn, Flowers of the Riverside and this one — each pairing a flat-colour plant study with a line of English verse. Here the poet is Robert Bridges, then Poet Laureate: 'Between the dim hill's distant azure and flowery foreground of sparkling pleasure'.

The sheet was printed by the Dangerfield Printing Company of London, the imprint along its foot recording a run of 1,000 dated 11 February 1920, and it is signed with Kauffer's E McK K monogram.
