Cyril Power’s The Eight (1930) is a celebrated example of British modernist printmaking, showing eight rowers gliding across the Thames as seen from above. Created using the linocut technique championed by the Grosvenor School, Power’s print layers flat planes of colour with bold curves and dynamic diagonals, conveying movement, energy, and speed.

This poster was produced retrospectively for a 1958 exhibition at Richmond Town Hall. It remains faithful to the textures of the original linocut—subtle grain and surface variations are part of its visual identity.
