Collection: William Nicholson

William Nicholson was a British artist and illustrator who lived and worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He was a versatile artist who worked in a variety of mediums, including painting, printmaking and book illustration. From 1893 to 1898 he and his brother-in-law James Pryde created posters and graphic designs as the art duo Beggerstaffs. Nicholson is known for his modernist approach to art and his use of colour and form to create simple yet powerful images, and his work continues to be highly regarded and is widely considered an important contribution to the development of modern art.
