Louis Marcoussis was a Polish artist (originally known as Ludwik Kazimierz Wladyslaw Markus) who spent much of his life in Paris and became a French citizen. He was a friend of Pablo Picasso, Georges Braque and Edgar Degas, and from 1911 was one of the main exponents of Cubism. This poster shows his 1926 painting Composition à l'oiseau or Composition with Bird and is a perfect representation of his style of Cubist art.
